Man abusing his wife and children or a Woman with new-found independence, abusing her husband and children, we can all agree that then this has drastic effects on the development and growth of children into their Adulthood and thereby families all around in a community. To try to understand why a Man would abuse his own family or a Woman do so, we can see that lack of Faith is a major reason. The context of lives as part of a Bigger picture has and can make a positive difference. Christians can make a difference if they SEEK and learn from the Church before they proclaim to others…in Words and Actions following the Faith. This will have an impact on the whole World.
What is this Faith ?? – it is a Belief that is slowly manifested in us by a Divine Almighty who has the Power to not only Create but is also ‘Goodness’ and PERFECT in all it’s definition as we know it. He wants this Goodness and the ‘journey to perfection’ in His Children and so He sends One Son ‘Jesus’ to teach – all the other children. This is Sharing in all it’s Divinity in utmost LOVE because this SHARING would have repercussions from those who do not want to change or CONVERT. And yet, this Son Jesus chose OBEDIENCE as did His Mother and earthly father – Joseph. Those who then are ‘chosen’ are called to similarly go forth in obedience and SEEK to learn and share in Words and Actions. It calls for Sacrifice of time, effort and yes, sometimes retribution and cost lives as we see Jesus and countless others called ‘Revolutionary’ and killed when they bring Good for All.
Saint Bonaventure : Prayer to obtain the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit
Saint Bonaventure (1221-1274), Franciscan, Doctor of the Church
The Tree of Life no.49 (trans. Classics of Western spirituality)
Prayer to obtain the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit – Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety and Fear.
We pray to the most kind Father through you, his only-begotten Son, who for us became man, was crucified and glorified, that he send us out of his treasures the Spirit of sevenfold grace who rested upon you in all fullness: the Spirit, I say, of Wisdom, that we may taste the life-giving flavors of the fruit of the tree of life, which you truly are; the gift also of Understanding, by which the intentions of our mind are illumined; the gift of Counsel, by which we may follow in your footsteps on the right paths; the gift of Fortitude, by which we may be able to weaken the violence of our enemy’s attacks; the gift of Knowledge, by which we may be filled with the brilliant light of your sacred teaching to distinguish good and evil; the gift of Piety, by which we may acquire a merciful heart; the gift of Fear, by which we may draw away from all evil and be set at peace by submitting in awe to your eternal majesty.
For you have wished that we ask for these things in that sacred prayer which you have taught us; and now we ask to obtain them through your cross for the praise of your most holy name. To you, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory, thanksgiving, beauty and power, forever and ever. Amen.
So first God chooses and grants us the Holy Spirit through Jesus and we are then called to SEEK and use these Gifts granted, for the Good of All. When Jesus calls us to His Church to talk to us through the Gospel Sunday after Sunday, we see how He slowly then illuminates our Minds and Hearts to help us dispel the darkness and emptiness within, to bring Greater Truth and Wisdom which comes from God regarding our own selves and then use us, for the Good of others. This Truth is meant for our lives here on this Earth first as we live in the midst of family and community. So the SEVEN GIFTS as we see from above – Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety and Fear is distributed among the people to be used wisely and share with the Gentiles so that we can all grow and help BUILD Great Nations as is the Will of God. When we fail to do this, then we will be termed as hypocrites if we stand in the Church every week, but fail to ACT on it outside the Church. It has severe repercussions such as we see in the past from History or in our own lives today as we precariously are close to another World War.
We have to stem this decline and stop this evil where now we see Humanity suffering first from the effects of lack of ‘EGO control’ by most of the Men in all these centuries …and now Women in the garb of ‘femininity’ and ‘equality’ step up to be the abusers in many families. This Divine Understanding is needed to be shared that Man and Woman are equal Creations of God and have their roles to play to work for the ‘Common Good’ of the family of young children in the families and communities. We have to be there as Elders to our little ones so that they are guided, nourished and nurtured to be hopeful and grow as the next Inheritors and Workers of God’s Kingdom.
The Vocation of Priesthood and the Sacrament of Marriage can come together under Jesus to be obedient to this Mission by speaking openly and publicly of all the issues that we see in our midst. A community that encourages to help combat Sins in their midst by addressing them can bring drastic changes to combat the evils being wrought on ‘FAMILIES’ across the World.
The children as so the weak and the poor need an effective direction and I as a Grandmother now can see the many evils wrought by ignorant Men as well as Women when they take matters into their own hands instead of being humble enough to go down on their knees in gratefulness of Life, to then SEEK and LEARN true obedience by the Sacrifice of some time. If this little time can enable us to be then found WORTHY to spend an Eternity where there is Mercy, Joy and Peace for All, then it is worth all our time and then some, to help others too to be worthy to be with Jesus. Jesus came and shared, we too are called to do the same in Words and Actions in our own families and communities to make our families stronger and defend ourselves against satan by the ever guiding Power of the Holy Spirit. Happy Pentecost.
