Communication to stay connected…

Communion with communityAge is not a barrier….  to growth

Age is in the mind – goes a popular saying..!! We do know that most of the people in the ancient times died before their fifties. Survival was tough as it involved going from place to place in search of food that grew on trees or plants till Man learned the Wisdom of settling down to cultivate….

Settling made community living possible and there was safety in numbers even as it brought forth it’s own problems of then sharing and caring..! So if we are taught in schools that ‘barter’ was the means of exchange of goods made of different produces available locally or talents of community members, the advent of wheel made travel and meeting of others possible to avail then of exchange of ideas and produce. When the scale increased Man obviously felt the need of common currency.

As we read what we are taught as the ‘Stone Age’ which was depicted by the Rich men having others carry on their heads his fortune – Stones and boulders – to show off his wealth and position, we today know that it is the inevitable pride of Man – the EGO which one Priest taught as ‘ Edging GOD Out  which makes us show off that which we think makes us ‘Superior’ to others. It is sad when it does not occur to him as to where all these Resources came or his very life to see, hear, or use them for himself as so for the good of others around..

This Pride does cause one to tumble unless we reign it in with Jesus and His strength provided by His Light to control and dispel this arrogance which stems from one’s hearts. Why be arrogant with something which God has granted than be humble in gratitude and use it for our own Good as well as the others…? We who are so PROUD of our skin color, talent, intelligence, height or wealth can change when we know that when we look at life from the perspective of the Bible that these are granted by God in order for us to use it for the Greater Glory of God – through us and our community.

So evolution shows how climate and geography of where one’s ancestors were placed has an impact on the color of one’s skin over thousands of years..!  Scientists tell us that once upon a time the height of a horse was that of an average  ‘dog’ as we see today….and how evolution over time and the needs of the horse or a giraffe led to their increase in height. Does that mean that today a giraffe or a horse is ‘Superior’ to a dog? Can a mountain look down on the valleys or, is it good for the mountains to know that they are being held up by the low lying valleys.. Can the Wind, the Sun or Moon consider itself superior to maybe the low lying land or water on earth….or its varied plants, animals, human beings..!

II. THE FALL OF THE ANGELS

391 Behind the disobedient choice of our first parents lurks a seductive voice, opposed to God, which makes them fall into death out of envy.266 Scripture and the Church’s Tradition see in this being a fallen angel, called “Satan” or the “devil”.267 The Church teaches that Satan was at first a good angel, made by God: “The devil and the other demons were indeed created naturally good by God, but they became evil by their own doing.”268

392 Scripture speaks of a sin of these angels.269 This “fall” consists in the free choice of these created spirits, who radically and irrevocably rejected God and his reign. We find a reflection of that rebellion in the tempter’s words to our first parents: “You will be like God.”270 The devil “has sinned from the beginning”; he is “a liar and the father of lies”.271

393 It is the irrevocable character of their choice, and not a defect in the infinite divine mercy, that makes the angels’ sin unforgivable. “There is no repentance for the angels after their fall, just as there is no repentance for men after death.”272

We see from the Catechism of the Catholic Church above that we humans are created by being breathed the Spirit into us by the Creator. We have been granted the Power of Choice which is not granted for the other Creations on this Earth, or the Sun, or the Moon. So while the Sun, Moon or Mountains may not have Pride because they do not have a HEART….we humans take this heart for granted and we all know the feelings that surge through it all through our lives. Can then humanity comprising of so many billions of hearts created by God to have a Choice be allowed to each go the way he or she feels..?

Are we then powerless or are we given the Power to gain control over these feelings. We can learn to have a better response and Choice to situations around us when we learn from the Bible of the Truth that Jesus can help. He is the Light that shows the Way ahead in each of our lives in the midst of so many around. When we know that we are not alone but that there is someone who loves us enough to care and then sent Divine Wisdom, it is rather a very arrogant heart which despises and fails to SEEK from this Man, Jesus come from the Divine Maker who created all from NOTHING.

But while Scientists can talk about the ‘Big Bang’ out of NOTHING, they cannot admit that they are given the Power to think, deduce and ACT by that Being which created the Big Bang and allows Mankind to seek and find….This is pride unto thinking that one knows everything of one’s own Mind, Heart, effort, talent…..or opportunities.

Knowing that all started off as Sinners and yet some end up being proclaimed as a Saint here on Earth and are there out in someplace we call HEAVEN to have the capability of hearing and answering our Prayers is a Gift beyond any treasure for a seeking Soul.

We then know that life has a meaning, it’s sufferings have a meaning. So do we lament today that Jesus lived only till the age of 33. How many of us are ready to drink the CUP that He drank on this earthly life..? If we know that He has given the Wisdom of Life for all Humanity till Eternity in that life span on this earth, then we know that some of us can aspire to learn and live by it to the extent we are offered those graces to help ourselves and others….in our time. We have to learn and trust that He knows the bigger picture and that even as there seems to be so much injustice, those affected have hope that beyond this life, they will have great rewards. We understand then when Jesus guides us not to despair, instead get up each day to lift up our Cross towards hope.

It gives meaning to our efforts to be there for the Needy as much as possible even as we all have to go through our daily lives to work before we eat. Here Work has a meaning, does work only mean that which enables us to earn a currency? Money makes many things possible for us but it is to be used as God teaches – ‘ never to be our Master’ but that we Master our resources to use them for our Good and the Good of All.

I share this link where it reflects rightly that our attitude towards ‘wealth and possession’ can have lasting  eternal consequences and a right approach towards both can make life Good for all humanity where the ones ‘Blessed with plenty can be a Blessing to those who are Needy.’

Mother Mercy could have been supported and helped by her children to actively travel and visit or stay in touch with all her family through the Internet. Our children and myself tried to help this Mother when she visited us, to help her learn the simple ways to navigate the Computer to learn to use Skype or use her mobile phone to be in touch with all….Living in the US with two Sons and families who were among the pioneers of the Computer era in the 1990s, she was not motivated to learn the use of Computers to stay in touch with family or friends…

Here are two links to show that with the right attitude in life, age is not a barrier to growth to love and serve in Actions with the means and talents that are provided to us –
